Governance was separated from management and a competent CEO appointed.
The board is now an exemplar of best practice in inancial management of the
iwi’s assets. The board has an excellent business plan to create employment
in aquaculture of mussels and pelagic species. The iwi under the Tū Ake
Whakatōhea Hapū Collective is now strategically placed to reopen negotiations
with the Crown to settle the Whakatōhea Raupatu claim. Despite the downturn
in dairying the future is looking good.
