        CAMP AREAS AND INFORMATION


        The Gisborne district — or Tairāwhiti as the locals know it —
        has some awesome places to set up camp and kick back.

        Gisborne District Council is keen to let you know about all
        our camping kaupapa (how to).

        Contact our customer services team or head to our
        website to find maps, when you can camp and information
        about facilities available in different parts of our region.
            Freedom Camping

            Year-round sites:    April - September:
            •   Motu             •   Doneraille Park
            •   Marina Park      •   Tolaga Bay
            •   Kaiti Beach      •   Kaiaua Beach
            •   Makorori Beach   •   Tokomaru Bay

            Summer Camping

            By permit only September - April:
            •   Doneraille Park  •   Waihau Beach (Loisel's)
            •   Turihaua Beach    •   Tolaga Bay
                (26 Dec - 1 Feb)  •   Kaiaua Beach
            •   Turihaua point   •   Tokomaru Bay
            •   Pouawa Beach     •   Waipiro Bay
        Pick up a permit from Council in Gisborne, Te Puia Springs
        or one of our local outlets.
        Dump stations are available at some summer camping
        sites and a number of public sites throughout the region.
        We welcome responsible campers, please be familiar
        with our camping rules and as the Kiwi saying goes
        "leave only footprints."
